Description:

Are you curious about how psychology graduates can innovate and launch successful careers beyond academia and traditional practice? Join us for an exciting lecture series that will introduce the concepts of innovation and entrepreneurship, specifically tailored for psychology students and postdoctoral researchers.

In this lecture series, we will explore how psychology intersects with business, technology, and creative problem solving to create new opportunities for psychologists. Learn how innovations in mental health, behavioral science, and therapeutic technologies are transforming the field and how you can be part of this change.

There will be two lectures followed by an interactive hands-on workshop. The first half of each lecture will cover basic theory and concepts, followed by a guest speaker who is a successful psychology graduate and entrepreneur. Hear first-hand how they turned their ideas into thriving businesses and be inspired to take your own ideas to the next level! The workshop will be run with a smaller group of students who wish to do practical exercises with specific business ideas.

What you will gain:

  • An understanding of what innovation is and what it means to be an entrepreneur.
  • An understanding of the relevance of innovation to psychology.
  • Insight into real-life examples of psychology-based start-ups.
  • Inspiration from psychology graduates who have launched their own successful ventures.
  • A practical introduction to the first steps of business ideation.
